Smith’s Pivlock Arena Max Sunglasses feature the same design, lens technology, and space-age looks as the regular Pivlock Arena, but they’re designed to provide full coverage for bigger faces. That doesn’t mean they’re clunky, though; the TR-90 frame material keeps them super light, while the bridgeless Carbon TLT lenses provide crystal-clear optics whether you’re pounding the pavement or jumping on your bike for long a training ride. Smith also treated the lenses with an oil-, water-, and dirt-resistant coating to keep them clean, and included two-position adjustable nose pads and slide-on temple tips that actually become sticker when they get wet, so they won’t slide off your face at a really unfortunate moment. Even after all this tech, the Arena’s calling card is Smith’s Pivlock lens-change technology, which makes it easy to swap lenses in a matter of seconds so you can be good to be while everyone else is still fussing with their shoes.

About Smith Optics

Based in Sun Valley, Idaho, Smith Optics, Inc. was founded in 1965 with the creation of the first-ever goggle featuring a sealed thermal lens and breathable vent foam. In the early years, founder Dr. Bob Smith, an orthodontist by trade, made goggles by hand using dental tools, foam, and glue. Before he struck a deal for manufacturing of Smith goggles in the late 60s, Smith would often trade his creations for lift tickets. These early prototypes were usually manufactured by Smith and friends around the kitchen table.

Building on that goggle heritage and extending its expertise, Smith Sport Optics has gone on to set the standard for high-performance eyewear and goggles. Innovations over the years include the Fog-X anti-fog coating, PMT Perforated Membrane Technology lens ventilation system, patented Turbo C.A.M. Constant Air Management system, patented Regulator adjustable lens ventilation system, patented Roll Off’s film advance system for motocross, patented ODS (Ocular Docking System) prescription insert, and patented Slider series sunglasses, the most innovative interchangeable lens sunglass available.

Today, Smith Optics has become synonymous with innovative, durable, top-quality products in the eyewear and goggle market. The company is also recognized for its unparalleled team roster, which boasts some of the top names in biking, motocross, skiing, snowboarding, surfing, skateboarding, and wakeboarding. Like many other companies, Smith utilizes team input as a key element of new product introductions. In addition, Smith athletes are actively involved in the development process for performance testing and coloration selection.

Smith products are sold worldwide in more than 50 countries through specialty and sporting goods stores. From Smith’s distortion-free Tapered Lens Technology to the versatility of the Slider Series, with its patented, interchangeable lens system, its devotion to excellence, innovation and style has made Smith goggles and sunglasses the choice of action-sport athletes worldwide. Smith products represent authentic sports gear, researched and tested by a dedicated group of employees and athletes that live and breathe the lifestyle.

When you’re leaving the beaten track behind, it’s a good call to have the Smith Wayward Polarized Sunglasses on your face so you don’t miss any of the details along the way. Sure, the Wayward has a classic look that’ll go anywhere and do anything, but its real awesomeness lies in what you can’t see until you put it on. Smith used its revolutionary ChromaPop polarized lenses, which cut glare and increase vividness to make colors truly pop. The lenses are also treated with anti-reflective and water- and oil-resistant treatments to shed gunk, and the Evolve frames are made primarily from bio-based materials as well. While the Wayward’s casual, it’s still been hooked up with Smith’s hydrophilic Megol nose and temple pads to keep it securely on your face even if you start sweating, because no one likes to spend their day pushing their shades up their nose.
